One day a woman was in a car accident in India. This woman was named Radha who had been raised with her father from when she was three years old when her mother died from cancer. Her father is Rajiv Kumar. After the accident, she was brought to the United States by her young cousins. Her cousin who was named Gunjan Dupuis decided to take her in for treatment for her ankle injury. Gunjan found out that she had a boyfriend named Karan Solanki who was also getting treated at the same clinic. Gunjan also found out that Radha lived with her father Rajiv, who didn't approve of poor people being seen as somehow lesser than rich people, but he agreed to let her stay there due to Gunjan's pleadings. However after another car accident happened which caused two injured passengers (who were taken by ambulance) one of them died; it turned out they were the daughter of Mr. Shastri, a very rich man. This caused Mr. Shastri to blame Rajiv for his daughter's death which eventually led to an argument of Shastri with Rajiv and had him kicked out of the hospital (he had previously been staying there for free due to Gunjan's pleading) and had him put in jail. He was bailed out by Gunjan who not only had to pay his bail but also bail Radha out as well after she tried to help her father the best she could the night before (by attempting to cause a diversion). She was eventually accepted to stay at the hospital until she got better and had to meet with Dr. Candler who used to be Rajiv's friend and mentor as his doctor during Radha's injury and the three of them became very friendly as time went on. One day Radha, after some shock from learning more about her past, comes up with the idea of creating a charity for children of less fortunate parents such as herself. She asked Karan if he would sponsor a few children with their own school fund which both agreed upon due to his love for Radha. However, one day Karan came back from a trip which turned out quite different than what he had initially told Radha. He had been talking to Mrs. Shastri, his new love interest who wanted him to help her son get money from an insurance company at Radha's expense. Radha was upset but Karan tried to explain himself and she agreed to let him do it as she didn't want to hurt him more than he already was. However, after a conversation with Dr. Candler, Radha decided that Karan had deceived her and she told him that he needed to go back and tell Mrs.
